She's got some flaws (not to mention some serious die rotation). But the color is natural enough, I think, and there's plenty of nice detail. A low-ball bid won her for 44% of the "PCGS guide price" for the grade. What say you?

based on previous experience PCGS does not know how to grade these. i'd call it VF30 I'm going to say PCGS called it VF25. I wish I knew what they look at on these

I suggest that you don't use the "PCGS guide price" as your guide. The Greysheet is a much more accurate guide to prices. It's pricy but you don't need a monthly subscription. I get it 4 times a year but 1 or 2 a year is plenty good. And then there is always spending the time searching auction results. ebay is the easiest but the other auction houses are more accurate as long as you take into account their buyer's premium.

VF25. Very original and attractive. Won't argue with 30.
David Kahn would love this one (and the other one you posted recently.) One thing we both have in common is a preference for darker or crusty original-surface Bust coinage.
It's in an NGC holder, so I'm confused as to why PCGS is being mentioned apart from the price guide.
PCGS price guide values tend to reflect wishful thinking more than actual market data; searching past auctions by grade is a safer alternative, although auction records can be out of step with market trends.

I find the PCGS guide useful. I'm pretty sure it is the most accessed free-to-air listing, it's conveniently paired with usually reliable research material and it is frequently updated. As a rule, I assume a good retail price to be below 60% of the PCGS price. I use Greysheet, too, but I doubt most amateur buyers do. NGC's price guide often sits un-updated for months or years ... I hardly use it at all.

i don't know why I called it PCGS  anyway NGC has the same problem imo. someone tell me how they handle strike vs wear on these. as a side note I had the grade right
