What might have caused all this on the Obverse of this 71 Kennedy? Struck thru/Lamination/Post Mint Damage/ or ? The Reverse is perfect.

I'm thinking the same thing- struck thru, but thru what?/- looks like a lot more than just grease etc.

Looks like a strike-through thread? Can't tell what size it is from the images. But thread would turn like that would.

Wire leaves a stronger size and less curled impression on the coin.

Pretty cool.

Maybe a mouse dropped his pretzel on the planchet.

Hi,

I also think it could possibly have been Struck Through Grease with some fibers caught in the grease.

It's a fun coin!

Thanks,
Bill

Decided to spruce up the "Struck Thru " half with a little "Acetone Bath" and look what happened!

It was foreign matter on the coin- glue maybe?

Glad I didn't store this thing thinking it was a nice error!

Guess I now have a "Struck Through Acetone" Half (LOL)
