Could it possibly be 60% Nickel, 40% Silver because of the slight magnetic properties?
Need some advice.
Thanks!

@rey, first welcome to CCF. Second, what is the weight of this coin? That is always a good first step. Thx.

It's got a hunk of metal for a chain soldered to it. That's what the magnet is attracted to.

The weight is meaningless because it has a random hunk of metal stuck to it.

it looks like it was a neckless at some point. But pictures are better than videos in my opinion.
Also you should not be handling your coins like that, - by the edges only.

In most cases, a weak magnetic attraction indicates you're dealing with an altered coin or even a counterfeit. The most common cause of a weak magnetic attraction is nickel plating. Double-plated coins that consist of an inner layer of nickel and an outer layer of some other metal will also create a weak magnetic pull.

Plated for it's life as jewelry.

You can generate a magnetic counter-response in lots of conductive metals by waving a strong magnet over it.

I do agree that hunk of foreign metal seems to be more magnetically responsive.

Common Ike dollar with piece of metal on it.

This isn't a Silver Ike, on to the next.

I agree with those saying it's because of the extra metal attached to the Ike.

Unless it was an error coin without the attached metal which I agree is the likely cause rather than the coin itself as normally there would not be a 1974 silver except in those minted for collectors with s mint (uncirculated and proof).

1974 Copper-Nickel Clad Uncirculated
1974-D Copper-Nickel Clad Uncirculated
1974-S Copper-Nickel Clad Proof
1974-S 40% Silver Clad Uncirculated
1974-S 40% Silver Clad Proof

weight 24.59g composition 40% silver bonded to core of pure copper 1971-s, 1972-s, 1973-s, 1974-s, 1976-s

75% copper, 25% nickel 1971pd-1976pd and 1977 and 1978 pds weight 22.68g

See this link for some general further info on the ikes https://www.gainesvillecoins.com/bl...dollar-value
