I recently obtained a 1 oz medal/round commemorating Stephen Foster and the Cincinnati Music Center.
I know of the 1936 Half Dollar commemorative, but I had never heard nor seen a medal/round with exactly the same theme. I cannot seem to find much information on it. Perhaps CCF can help out?

Hmm I'm not finding anything on a quick search of the interwebs and don't see any indication of the issuer on either face of the coin. There isn't anything to note along the edge is there?

There is some sort of serial number on the edge, but that's it.

Interesting that it so closely resembles the half dollar design elements.

Send a PM to commems and ask if he has any knowledge of this piece.

It looks like it's exactly copying the design of the original 1936 commemorative, except in a different style and with some lettering changes?

Interesting item. The style looks modern - it holds together nicely enough to not be ugly, but it's sure from nowhere near the 1930s!.
My guess is it was probably part of a set representing other classic commemoratives. If so, I wonder if the same designer did all of them; they could be nice to look at.

Anything else on the edge, or just a number?

Yes, just two letters followed by three numbers. Hard to see. but I think it says "PU 323" or "FU 323".

I believe it's part of a series issued by Southern Coin Investments. You can read more here:

It seems Southern Coin Investments is defunct? Their website doesn't function.
I did find two more examples, featuring very similar design elements to the Stephen Foster and Roanoke rounds:
