Are these parallel lines normal on LMCs? If it were a nickel, I would think it's roller lines, but this coin is plated.

It's a plating issue. It's called Plating Blisters. https://www.error-ref.com/blistered...d%20pressure.

Interesting, so plating blisters come in different flavors like circular and linear. That, I didn't know. Thanks, Errers. =)

I think are plating blister which follow the core of the coin. The core has from unknow reseon some imperfections from rolling. The blisters will show the spaces between the rolling lines of the core where is form air pressure. I saw this in many others countries plated zinc coins.

The early conception (prior to plating) had thoughts pertaining to the rinse cycle being a bit inadequate for the newly introduced zinc planchets. The result or cause produced many plating issues in the beginning years. Thanks, Doug.

Most likely a plating issue. I do wonder though if it might be a rolling issue with the zinc before plating with copper? Also, not normal or intended and not an error or variety. No added value either if you were wondering.

Plating issues abound in this poorly-conceived series.

Rolling lines on the zinc sheet seems like a good theory. I checked the back, and sure enough, the lines run in exactly the same direction as the front. Obviously the copper plating didn't like that.

I'm going with roller lines here, note how they are mirrored on the reverse. There might be some plating issues along with it though.
