the markers are for die scratches so not visible in this coin

I can definitely see splits, but it kinda looks rotated, possibly N/S NE/SW.

Update: Just looked at VV, kinda looks like a 63 to me possibly? http://www.varietyvista.com/02b%20L...1DRPM063.htm

I see split serifs on both the top and bottom so yes seems like a RPM you've got here. Not sure on the attribution though. Perhaps this enlarged view of the mm in position to the date can help:

Could be. There are alot of known RPM's for 1961-D.

Yeah not loving this digital microscope, miss my old cannon dslr on a stand with macro lens.

i will try to get better images and check against the larger list of rpms. A nice setup will be on my holiday list.

@frog, when I'm looking to attribute a RPM, I find that close-up pics help to establish the relative position of the mintmark with respect to the digits of the date.
