Hello everyone. Sorry to jump in after all this time, but I need help. You see I have one of those coins. Please allow me to elaborate. 1st. Mine weighs in at 3.10g on a POS scale. 2nd. It is ever so slightly magnetic with a very strong magnet!!!! Unfortunately it has a somewhat deep mark on the back as well as as few other normal circulation marks. I have examined it extensively. With a microscope. The mark on the back is more than sufficient to have gone deeper than any plating. This coin is not plated!!! There are no signs of any kind of chemical treatment... Also on the plating. If it were plated. I would expect to have lost some details. Especially under the scope. It is also DDO and DDR.
I had forgotten I used to collect coins as a kid. I was dead set on filling up those darn blue coin books everyone has. Then about a year ago my mother was moving and had discovered some of my old crap. It has been in that book for the better part of atleast 30 years. Maybe even longer. Only thing I can figure is a possible mix up if they were minting coins for someone else, or they were doing a test run on a different composition of metals. Which they did on the regular. Both of the above. My money is on the 2nd option. Those coins are supposed to be destroyed after the test conclusion. It would not be the 1st time that one of those coins made its way out. Well, let me know what you think. All constructive criticisms will be considered as well as appreciated. Thanks

RhiDen, best bet is to start a new post. Pictures of your coin are a must for anyone to be able to help. Clear pictures of both sides, cropped to just show the entire coin are best.
