There have been a flood of listings on ebay for 2023 American Silver Eagles. They all use a stock image of a genuine silver eagle, but if you buy them, you get counterfeit coins. Here is an example. I have highlighted two easy to see differences (of many). Show your financial support of the Coin Community Family (click here)See my topic on Mexican Numismatic Medals (click here)

The back foot isn't right either. Those are some major differences. Thanks for the information nss-52

If you ordered a 2023 silver eagle, and you receive the coin on the left, be sure to report it to ebay as item received not as described (counterfeit).

nss-52, thank you for the comparison. Unfortunately, these are probably being sold by "fly by night" sellers who will be gone by the time the fake is delivered.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Many of the sellers state they ship from a location in the United States, but they are registered in Israel, Morocco, Poland, UK. I knew they would be counterfeit when I ordered them. They came in a nondescript envelope with a return address that turned out to be a Walmart in Katy, TX.

I would never buy PMs from some random person on ebay. I don't care how good the deal is.

I don't know why, but I've also seen many fakes coming out of Katy, Texas.

Yes, I see a lot of differences. Just out of curiosity, what are the weights, diameter and thickness? They have been getting better at creating alloys that mimic accurate weights.

Ankle laces are wrong also. On YouTube I've seen a fake 2023 silver eagle without the edge notch and one fake with the lame edge notch, so easy to fake.

Diameter is very close to specs but the thickness and weight are greater than specs. The thickness especially should be a clear give away that they are bogus.

If you're buying on ebay check the feedback and make sure they have a descent amount of sales.

The people that buy these are looking at only at the three Ps. Price, Price, and Price.
