My earlier post: http://goccf.com/t/454505Well, this CRH is taking longer than expected. Seems I can usually get one or two rolls done and then I'm done! So after three days I managed to get through 1 roll of dimes and 5 rolls of nickels. I read another poster who goes through 6,000 coins in several hours. Blows my mind. My initial intent was to go through all the rolls I got (10 pennies, 5 nickels, 1 dime and 5 quarters). But I wanted to provide some statistics (anticipating a lackluster outcome) and finally decided to first post results on the dime and nickel rolls. The stats mostly quantify the number of coins found for a specific time period. I was not about to record every date, though. I was curious about the averages I might see per time period. The spreadsheet output provides a good snapshot of the hunt. What I didn't find was silver (dimes) nor key/semi-key dates (nickels). I did find some nickel errors which I have photos of below. There were no significant finds unfortunately. But if you review the spreadsheet image you'll see I did find several older coins (1-1940 and 2-1964's, a lone S minted 1970). Also found several that would classify as full Step. but was seeing so many I began discounting them. Lastly found quite a few really shiny nickels. My sign is Sagittarius but I must be part Pices since I couldn't resist going after and saving those shiny, glittery coins. Good news is that except for the dime roll (Lumis) the nickel rolls appear customer wrapped. No rolls were short. Lets get to the error photos. Here is my bank haul. 2015P Die Crack Left corner to 1st column. 1980P DDR? "EPLUR". Not sure if the category is correct. Or is it just a lighting issue? 2021P two blisters(?) on right wall of Monticello. Also might be Full Step. 2017P With small obverse Cud on "S", die crack on reverse (Left wall) and might also be FS. Edit: forgot the spreadsheet. Edited by mike31093 10/23/2023 11:04 pm

Looks like some minor die cracks and die chips in these pics, but that 1940 nickel would be a saver for me.

What is that in the lower right of the Monticello doorway on 2015 Philly nickel? Looks almost like a DDR but I don't see any in that place for that year in variety vista. I very well may just be seeing something that isn't there too.

There's a pretty basic, simple explanation for this, actually. Some people, such as myself, only search for dates and major varieties... so we can get through a lot of coins quickly... Others examine every coin they come across with a microscope... 100 coins in an hour would be a "fast" pace for such a person... And everyone else kind of falls in between the "extremes", so to speak...
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

Looks like a good hunt so far. Definitely check every doorway on the nickels from 2006-2023 for extra lines across the door frame and triangle.
That is a big hornet nest on the side of Monticello! =)

Mike31093, we can conclude that it's not a DDR. I guess it could of been a trick of the lighting.

I'm with John, I look for dates and major varieties.
