I'm curious to know if anyone knows the history of this item? Period of time it was given, how many that were purchased etc.

Can't help, but he was the leading dealer in SLQs for decades. The top hat was his trademark.

According to his Coinworld obituary, he moved from Ohio to Palm Harbor in 1995 or thereabouts; I'd guess they would date from around that time, to advertise his new address.

I think that I picked one up at a FUN show in 2008 or so. There was probably a bowl of them.

@win, here is a link to the tokencatalog entry for this piece. Interestingly, they note that it is believed to have been minted by The Patrick Mint.

I got mine from Mr. Cline sometime circa 2005. He gave it to me at the big show in Baltimore when I stopped at his table.

I've heard the Patrick Mint connection story as well, but never looked into it.

I would guesstimate that 500 to 1,000 were produced - but that's just a guess.

Here's a link to mine:

I visited the Patrick Mint web-site and they advertised a price $650/1000 coins.

Who ever the engraved this coin is scary good.

Thanks everyone

On the bay now: J. H. Cline elongated SLQ. He was certainly deft at advertising!
