oswulf75 New Member Singapore 4 Posts	Posted 10/30/2023 05:33 am I found this old coin left behind by my dad. I recognized that it is Japanese One Yen and seems quite decent to me. I know that it is not valuable but do hope that it is genuine. It weighed heavier at 27.8g and has a diameter of almost 39mm. Since so many of these coins are fakes, my next step would be to determine the specific gravity. That will at least tell you if it is made from silver. Japanese coins were minted to a very high standard, deviations to the norm rarely left the mint. There was a story I heard of a Japanese mint that accidentally released a 'error' note/coin to the public, when the mint director found out he personally made a visit to the customer's house to buy the 'error' back for 100,000 yen.
