1988 Penny Doubled Die Reverse / DDR Or Machine Doubling Or Something Else?

CobaltCoin63 Valued Member United States 89 Posts	Posted 10/30/2023 10:11 am I'm learning about errors and varieties since wasting hundreds of dollars grading what I thought was errors and varieties. Rather than sending in a 1988 Penny with what looks like a DDR to me, I'm hoping to get some consensus of what the odd lettering shapes are due to. Some letters are wider at the bottom than the top. The thinner-than-expected letter and parallel lines visible at the tops of the letters are both signs that the die used to strike this coin was tired.
