So iam new and just start collecting as well as inherited some coins and came across this one just curious if it is all copper and missing the clad or if there is any like this.sorry bout that but according to this scale I have e it weighs 2.25 grams.. and thankyou all very much for your time. I have some more old ones not to sure about as well and the patina on is really neat..iam still learning..

to the Forum. This is almost certainly a buried coin. Cupro-nickel goes this dark reddish-brown color after a year or two in the soil. Metal detector users dig up thousands of dimes like this and many spend them in vending machines or roll them and take them to the bank without cleaning them.
