Hello friends, I bring you 2 5˘ coins from 1964, perhaps in the image you can see the details and thus get your opinion, both have differences between them and the one on the right is brighter than the other, the one on the right It has a more consistent engraving and it seems that on the obverse it is sunken in contour and on the reverse part it is more prominent. And in the lower letters it seems that there is some error. I prefer your opinions and grateful as always

The only thing I am seeing is a difference in circulation wear.

@aam, it is difficult to compare two circulated coins like this, even ones minted in the same year as so much is unknown about how they were handled. For sure there are meaningful differences in circulation wear, but there may also have been smaller differences in the dies' wear used to strike these two coins. It would help to have an overlay, but in looking location of the two mintmarks, they seem to be in slightly different places, meaning at least the reverse dies were different.

even though billions of 1964 nickels were made, they are like snowflakes, no two are exactly alike

I bet that 1964-D on the right has magnificent luster in the sunlight. You can tell that it doesn't have much circulation wear. It's a late die state—the letters are getting puffy, the bust hair is smooth, orange peel is visible, and the die metal is starting to flow. But those micro-features will produce a very pleasant gleam in a warm light.

Looks like there was a lot of polishing that happened on the left side of Monticello and also in front of Jefferson's face. I almost wonder if they didn't buff out a die clash. That could explain why Trust is melting more than Liberty.

Hello @Brandmeister, I add images that do not reflect sunlight, perhaps it can be better appreciated in these images and obtain the opinion on the D mint. Thank you

The top coin definitely has die damage. The the edge shows indication of a a double die strike at the top. Groove in the rim. And the damage to the dome of Monticello may be from grease on the die or outside damage.
