1899 Interesting Morgan Dollar Error

Vic2236 New Member United States 1 Posts	Posted 11/02/2023 12:40 am I recently inherited six Morgan dollars that are in absolutely beautiful condition. In one of them I found an error I can't find anything about an error like this online so can I came here to see if anyone has seen anything like this. Its a number 8 or letters(I can't tell for sure) struck in one of the stars on the side with the bird. * Moved by Staff moved to a more appropriate forum. * Report this Post to the Staff

Second, while that does look a bit like a number eight, I wonder if instead it isn't two round, adjacent gouges from circulation. It looks like there is metal "smushed" up around a central dig in both cases.
