Greetings all
Grease-mold doubling is a rather interesting and mostly unrecognized strike error related to Grease Filled Dies.

Lawest actually posted one a few days ago that has gone relatively unnoticed. http://goccf.com/t/454848
These are eather rare or little known errors, but quite worthwhile to be aware of.

They can't be very rare because I see a lot of them, mostly on the base of Lincolns' bust.

Mr Diamond wrote that he has only seen this doubling on the terminal digit of the date

Thx for clarifying where the doubling is visible @stone. To my uneducated eyes, this last digit appears enlarged (in other words, taller as well as thicker), Very interesting!

Thanks Stoneman.

I'm seeing the last two digits as 96 (barely), and the 6 is larger than normal.

The 1996 was my find.(if you are referring to the example that I posted)
Before my find, Mr Diamond had excluded, in error-ref , 1996 from the range of years that this type of doubling had occurred.

Very good link, thanks for sharing. I posted an example I found CRH a few years back. It was a 1998 LMC I think.
