Here is a picture of what found in the field on the reverse of a 1900 Morgan. That is in a scop x4. Anyone ever see anything like this?

Dark spots, dings, scratches, circulation wear, toning are common on old and newer coins, impossible to say what caused the spot on your Morgan, numerous things can cause dark spots.

Could be a stain or corrosion spot.
