I have been looking at so many pennies lately that I am almost seeing double, LOL! My eyes may be tricking me, but the hair on this 1988 D look like it has some doubling (?) near where the arrow is pointing? I have been looking at tons of "normal" coins so I can learn to spot abnormal ones - just wondering if I happened to catch one or not?
Thanks
RJE

@rje, looks like the doubling is most visible on the date for the two known DDOs of this year/mint:

Pls add a closeup pic of this region. Thx.

@Spence, here is a photo of the date. Not sure I am seeing any doubling, but I am a novice regarding finding these things. The edge of Lincoln's shirt looks a bit different, though?
Thanks!

Not seeing doubling on the hair, just plating issues.

I was thinking the same thing after comparing is closely to the PCGS images of that same date coin.
Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the warm welcomes! How can you tell the difference between plating issues and DD or other errors? I am assuming they do not increase the value, right?
THanks!

RJE, there is no simple or quick answer, just time, experience, education from others and self education. Pay attention to what others offer up and do as much digging around on your own as you can. There are many resources out there that will help you along the way. Here is a thread I started for my bank roll finds and on page 28 are a list of useful links, this should take you to the right page.

Here is a direct link to all of the types of hub doubling, which is what you want to find. https://www.error-ref.com/doubled-dies/

As far as your question about worth, there is no premium for what you have posted on this thread.
