What is going on with this quarter? All of these marks, " the obvious ones" that are pointed out are raised on the quarter. They not indented. I am unsure about the coloring too. it appears to me buried and dirt maybe. Am I missing all their defects on this quarter? is there any other ones like this any information would be great.. just didn't look right to me

All I am seeing is environmental damage, like from being buried or in a fire.

So are both you guys saying that the ground eroded away the quarter to make the raised straight lines or do you simply not able to see what I'm talking about so I need to Circle them or are you guys saying that being buried in ground adds metal to metal in the form of straight lines because once again I will say if you did not read your description that these lines are raised capital raised so I am confused and I just need help on being understood did being buried raised the lines by eroding the rest of the quarter around straight lines or did being buried grow metal in the form of straight lines on set quarter or do I need to Circle them because I understand some people can't process what they're in to look for I'm just curious need help understanding I'm curious to know about the raised straight lines on the quarter the chunks of metal that are extra is what I'm saying

Weight? If there is "extra" metal it will weigh more.

Could some of the lines be part of a clash? Maybe need an overlay?

To CCF! What you're seeing is caused by environmental damage. PMD.

to the CCF Environmental damage can encompass all kinds of things that can happen to a coin. You say how can it be a straight lines? Maybe during it's 30 years of circulating some chemical contacted it but only on certain spots. Some chemicals might effect the copper, some others might effect the nickel. What it all boils down to is that if it didn't happen at the mint, it's not an error. That's what we call Post Mint Damage.

LOL could you please back that up with actual facts of factual proof Maybe a link or something that shows similar similar damage from whichever and could you please explain how you came to that determination I guess a city roads the quarters and leaves raised pieces of metal right I'm going to give that I'm honestly going to give that maybe maybe a maybe 15% chance of being a possibility and that might be pushing it with all do my respect!! I appreciate the Insight no matter what it is or where it comes from even if it is describing one's long shot of a possibility I just the percentage wise is very low for that to do that with that chemicals it says if you're shrinking a head but it grows bigger it's as if your plant a tree upside down and it grows into the ground type thing with raised barking indented bark but still looks identifiable with all due respect I will definitely not believe that nice Theory though thank you again for your opinion I just it can be anything else but I just don't see that happening unless like I said if you could present a link or something maybe a picture of your own coin that has that or one something anything other than just your written opinion I would greatly appreciate it cuz I really want to learn more about this topic I'm just really curious too on how that those chemicals like 808 the quarter part underneath the of the mint mark if you look at the mint mark the D like there's like that D is on top of the raised part of the quarter and it can still make out the whole quarter so

If you feel you have a legit rarity, please consider submitting the coin to a reputable third party grading/assessment service. If you do, please let us know the outcome. Thanks.

Endlesslykcb, This site is full of knowledgeable experts perfectly willing to educate others. However, due respect is required rather than insults, especially from a new member. Remember that it is nice to be important but more important to be nice!

Sorry, but the burden of proof is on you, not us. There are billions of ways a coin can be damaged. There is a finite amount of ways an error can happen. So you prove to us how this happened during the minting process.

PS, I'd check the attitude, it won't fly well here.

Archimede remarks that :" Nothing perfect, everything is relative" This it is the factual. How you think it is not perfect and your dream about this coin it is "relative" to your thinking.

Facts: Very circulate and bited coin with some chemical interferences from the environement. Try to echange where you can.

Facts: Impossible from this coin state to determine which design has. For me those coins are just an relative round piece of metal.

NO error or variety and who think about an Clash seem not to master those coins Design.
