It has a beautiful gold tone to it. Is this just natural toning, or is it improperly annealed?

Looks like a gold-half dollar

Its also possible that it has been gold plated. Many Kennedy half dollars fall victim to this fate.

Thanks!

ziggy9:

I don't think this is plated- under light I get a nice hour-glass reflection both obverse and reverse- very similar to a Morgan silver dollar.

If this had been plated there would be no reflection at all.
I have 1946 Walker Half and a 1921 Morgan silver dollar that were plated and this looks nothing like the coating on those coins.
*Assuming of course that Silver-Plated and Gold Plated have the same effect on the surface of a coin*)
