I recently inherited a pair of American Eagle One Ounce Proof Bullion Coins... 1987 and 1986. They are in the original packaging, with the COA. Since they are sealed and "Proof", is there any advantage to having them graded prior to selling them. Should I assume not all Proofs are created equal? TIA

Do not grade bullion.

Okay, thanks! I thought that was the case, but on ebay I still see a lot of commemorative gold coins with grades.

Welcome to CCF! A lot of collectors like graded bullion and buying certain labels. Some send in their bullion for grading, silver and gold eagles, etc. But for just a few the cost is not worth it in my opinion. The major dealers send in thousands of them to get a bulk discount on grading. You could check ebay sold prices to see the difference between graded and ungraded. MS70 is what collectors hope for when sending in but you never know what grade you'll get.

Are they Proof or Bullion? Proof coins are worth much more.

do not get bullion ASE's graded (I probably would not even grade the uncirculated ones either - only proofs.)
