The thickness of the 1oz Vienna Philharmonic (2009) seems to deviate from the published figure!
Published on the Internet (in multiple places, but not the Austrian mint): 2mm.
Measured: 1.9mm!
This is consistent across a few coins.
To measure precisely such a thin item, stack a few together, divide the measured thickness by the number of coins.

The width deviates a little. 37.05mm instead of 37mm. It could be a measurement mistake (but I don't think so).

The weight of the coin is right on spot.

Could anybody publish their own measurements?

Maybe you are talking about a gold phili, which I don't have in hand, but I've got a silver one right here.

I measured 37.00 mm exactly with my digital caliper.

My weight was 31.30g... I calibrated the scale with a 100g weight that came with it, but the scale isn't top dollar... neither is the caliper for that matter but it matched the expected value exactly.

Didn't think I could get a width measurement without scratching the coin...

! Nice to see new members!

I should be getting quite a lot of 09 (or maybe 08...) Silver Philharmonics in the next days and I'll post a number when I get them.

Sorry
I only have a gold one so my measurements won't match the silver ones

Just a question for rggoodie, is gold heavily controlled in Australia? As in do you have to register it with the government or something like that?
