3:41 pm RCM site crashes just as I was putting an order for 3 Classic Uncirculated Sets & 2 Last Strike Uncirculated Sets. Will keep trying. Quote:

I just ordered by phone I was the 20th in line at 12:15 pst. Bought the wrap set, the first and last set and the 50 cent roll. It took about 35 mins

I ordered only one item for each set, because I'm paying 15% taxes in Quebec. Also, the mintage is huge, compared to last year's sets. On the other hand, I understand they are the first sets featuring the new king so the demand might be higher. What do you think?

 On the RCM site order $140.75, frozen at "Proceed to Checkout" ....."Timeout Occurred" ...., and I am kicked out of site. Well, maybe tomorrow. At least there are 5 items in my cart.

I do not see high appeal in the "last strike", although yes, it commemorates end of era.
One of the reasons - lack of 50c piece.
Wanted to get only first King set and 50c roll.
Not possible, site is timing out.
But the mintages are huge, and they should be available either tomorrow or via dealers.

Just after the announcement I had all I wanted in my cart and thought I might wait for the Black Friday sale so I went back to work for a bit and then it seemed the rest of the country all deceived to go get some of the new coins too. I wonder how long before people cut the coins out of the sets or rolls to spend them?

The value of these coins will depend on the overall mintage of the circulated coins. In a typical year, ten/hundreds of millions of them are minted. The question is will the RCM continue to make them in 2024 or does the production of them ends December 31, 2023. Edited by MoneyPenney

Gave up waiting for the RCM to sort their web page out and ordered from Gatewest. Their web site is ancient and the checkout process is primitive. Are they still active? I have not ordered from them in years. |

 You can get on their site ( RCM) and perhaps get items in your cart, but you cannot proceed to checkout. It freezes, then times you out... 8:40 pm. I may try Gatewest..

Gatewest is the largest coin dealer in Canada. I have enjoyed dealing with them over the years.
Do you prefer a beautiful website that doesn't work or an ugly website that works?
