I have looked all over online and Numista but can't find any other 42% silver coins mentioned, so makes me wonder if there are any others known by members here?

Or if this 1935 Mexico 50 centavos is unique in fineness of silver?

I bought this just because of the possibility of unique silver content...

maybe not 42 but US has or had 40% silver coins.
Could be difficult to find out without so much searching.
Seems like you'd need a searchable world coin database or spreadsheet and select then sort the composition column.
Many coins are just "silver" having no comment as to the fineness.
I have time on my hands so I'm browsing the Spain Portugal and the New World catalog.
Chile has 40% and 45% coins and many more pages remain to look for coins of 42%.
Found no more in that catalog, I'm browsing a silver coin book now.

Numerous low-purity silver values were found in that silver coin book, but no 42%.
I'm curious how the OP came across this coin and came to discover how unique it may be?
Seems like a more interesting topic than many.
With so many books and catalogs to look through, someone may find more?

A way's back we had a long thread with all of the denominations of coins around the world. I wonder if it might be fun to create something similar for silver purity.

That would be simple enough to do, but would also contain many unknowns.
I just skimmed over maybe a few or several dozen that would likely cover the most part.

This was a whatnot purchase for a fair price, initially was going to pass, then looked up the purity of silver, saw the 42%, and wanted the coin since I didn't have that percentage.

Mexico minted over 70 million of these coins after a gap of around 10 years with no other 50 centavos. The numista comments section does provide interesting context behind this coin.

Very interesting, mrwhatisit! You convinced me to pick one up, as I'm a sucker for silver coins, Mexican coins, single year issues, and oddball coins in general.

I agree!

If you go back to medieval times, silver content was constantly being adjusted slightly for various reasons, and I think every silver content (+/- 1%) from 1% to 90% can be found.

Some Low Countries coins were actually specified to contain miniscule amounts of silver (around 1%) before they just threw in the towel and made them of copper.

Here is one that rounds to 42%: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces104038.html
