@matt, are you asking about potential grades? If so, then I'll move this thread over to the grading subforum. But if you are just interested in people's overall thoughts of sub-type, authenticity, etc, then it is fine right here. Thx for providing clarification.

I think if you can get this for cheap, go for it. It's always nice to have an 18th-century coin in one's collection. It's not going to win any beauty contests, but at least you know it's authentic.

Any 1797 is a good 1797
Obverse AG, reverse fair, net Fair 2 with some light porosity
Should be attributable based on date and LHC position, etc. but I don't have my books at work of course.
Unless it's a scarcer variety I'd value it around $75 retail.

Price unknown, but you're buying from the bottom of the barrel.

It's $50 I'd love to buy nicer looking ones but don't have the budget or the kind of money to afford them, appreciate everyone's input

$50 is a solid price for that cent. I'd pick it up for that price all day long.

I see a coin like this and think... why didn't someone pull this out of circulation before it got to be this bad? And, just how long was this in circulation anyway?
