Hey folks, I know I have not been around much here in the last year. I decided to put this thread here, as where it is most relevant. About one year ago, Geoffrey Ball Auctions reached out to me, asking for my help with the Patrick Glassford error collection. Patrick passed away in the fall in 2022, and his two sons were trying to deal with a very large, chaotic collection of their father. When I picked up the collection, it filled my entire Toyota SUV, including the front passenger footwell and seat. There were bags of coins not searched, and errors scattered all throughout the boxes. Some boxes would be full of circulated 1c clips, only to have a $200 error tucked in there. To call Patrick Glassford a collector is probably an understatement. He did acquire a fantastic error collection, but in my own opinion, Patrick was an error hoarder. I suspect he went to coin shows all over Canada in the US from the 1980s to the early 2010s, not just buying errors for his collection, but buying EVERYTHING. That probably explains why seeing errors at coin shows was not commonplace in the shows I did from 2012 to 2018. So for the better part of the last year, I worked on the Patrick Glassford collection which sold in three Geoffrey Bell auctions (which were also on collector), the latter as a lot of bulk lots in their recent Moncton sale. My wish is that coins dealers bought some of those lots, and we'll see a scattering of lower priced errors out there at upcoming shows available for novice collectors. That explains my absence here, the lack of moderation (sorry Bobby), the lack of new listings on my ebay store and my absence in other online forums that I participate in. My own coins piled up on my desk, as I did not have a chance to look at them and put them away. I still have PCGS boxes on my desk from coins I sent in last year, still not in my registry. As cool as it was to work on that estate collection, I am happy it is behind me, and I am looking forward to playing with my own coins, and sharing some of the cool stuff I found. Lastly, I missed being around here at CCF. Wow welcome back, I am new here and just getting familiar with some of the names. Sounds like you had quite a task with a large collection, I am sure the family was glad for your help. Enjoy getting back to your own collection, and sharing your knowledge back here.
