I searched and can not find another dollar bill 2017A with a half bar after the serial number. Can someone tell what if error this is?  |

Cool note.
I'm unable to recall where I've seen this type of error before, but I have and it was on a fairly modern note.
There's a former BEP employee as a member of a different forum I belong to, so I'll show him the image and see if he has any ideas how it happened.

I've heard back from my friend over at the Paper Money Forum. Here's his quote -
According to my man in Currency Overprinting, it's probably a 2017A note, so yes, recent note. The numbering blocks that print the serial numbers have a locking mechanism. If the lock is not completely closed, it will pick up ink and print this mark. He said it should be caught IMMEDIATELY, so that would make it rather rare.

How much is it worth ?
Well, being rare is good.
But, it's circulated, extremely minor and, I almost hate to say it, it's not sexy. I like dramatic errors and even though my friend says it's rare, I rank it with a turned digit.
