Just pulled out of my pocket. said hmm, lets look this up.. ok, Ring of Death.. prolly not worth less, but does it increase value somehow? Or is Ring of Death the right term here...?

Hi citizenmarc and welcome to the CCF! Yes, your quarter has the Ring of Death. Because it's a form of post-mint damage or PMD, it does not increase the value. If it were a collectible coin, it would decrease the value.
Here's an example of the Ring of Death in situ that will help you understand how it happens.

To CCF! I agree, Coin Wrapping Machine Damage, also known as Ring of Death. Because of it being just Post Mint Damage, there's no added value, as it's not a mint error. Just a spender.

@ citizenmarc Just PMD as seen on too many coins. Caused, most likely, by a Coin Wrapping Machine.
