This one was spotted by an eagled-eyed friend. Kind of expensive for a minor die so he let me pick it up as I needed it for my collection. The doubled die is super minor, mostly just showing up as a thin line on the edge of the tail of the last 9, but also some tiny bits of it show up on WE TRUST. But the marker for the die is actually a Spike Head, so just sent images of this one to JC as it is unlisted. The Spike is also pretty light, but the crack does travel well down into the hair it's just really hard to photograph and, as noted, pretty light. Gonna need to put your specs on to see this one. 1909 V.D.B. Lincoln Wheat cent doubled die - WDDO-003 with Spike Head

Thanks for posting this one. This third WDDO for the year had escaped my memory. Thanks for the refresher.

It's a cool buy. Can you talk through the doubling on WE? It's not as obvious as the 9.

Thanks for this post..If not for the spike this one would be near impossible to attribute in circulated condition I guess.

Thanks all! JC already has this one listed as: SKH-1C-1909(VDB)-02.
As for the doubling on the WE... There is so much distortion on the IGWT on this coin that it was just too hard to photograph exactly what is doubling and what is mayhem. But if you look at the top of the lower crossbar of the E in WE, you will see a thin line. That is hub doubling.

I do admire your photography skills - being able to clearly show this fine detail is quite an accomplishment.
