Hi everyone,
I think at times we have a tendency to only broadcast the bad news with reguards to ebay and similarly styled auctions.......I thought in all fairness I would start a thread revealing those Ebayers who have had very memorable and positive experiences buying online, above and beyond the normal or the expected.....I know from my own personal experience that in at least some of the auctions I have bought......I was very pleasantly surprised with merchandise over and above my initial purchase such as "bonus" coins or the extra added letter to thank me for shopping with that seller........not to mention the unspoken of things such as promptness, truthfullness and a speedy delivery......to be sure there have been transactions that required extra effort on my part......and no I didnt send them a picture to get my stuff.....LOL, but all in all I would have to say I have met many honest dealers and sellers online.......WHAT ABOUT YOU?

I agree with you CoinNut5.

I have made many purchases from ebay and have been very happy with the service/coin most of the time. But it only take 1 bad apple to give the whole set up a bad name.

Most people will remember the bad one and not the good one.

Also there are many members of this forum who sell on ebay and they are honest dealers. Let not tar everyone with the same brush.

I'm not a major eBayer - my rating is a measly 25. That said, I haven't yet had a Bad Experience with ebay. Closest I've come is a stamp I bought for my brother 2 years ago. Ordered in November, nothing by Christmas. Ended up arriving on December 30th, with a mid-November postmark - it was a genuine "lost-in-the-mail"! Glad I didn't neg or neut the poor seller!

All the eBayers I've dealt with have been friendly, professional and efficient. No complaints here.

I don't consider myself a major eBayer either (only a little over 300 transactions), but I do consider myself an experienced eBayer since I've been playing the game since 1999, almost growing up along with ebay. While I have had a few less-than-satifactory transactions (but no neg feedbacks), I am not even considering dropping out of the ebay experience which I actually enjoy very much, not to mention the nice supplement to my pensions. I think my generally very satisfactory experience reflects my attitude and approach toward ebay and the people with whom I know I will have to deal, making accommodations for persons' foibles and my own willingness to compromise. I also try to be as open and honest in my auctions as possible. This approach has worked very well for me and I'm proud of my glowing feedback (ref. "thefred2").

One thing which bother me a lot are those persons who are so narrow-minded that they quit ebay after a single bad experience, even if they are the ones at fault. This represents univariant thinking, selfishness, and inability to accept responsibility for one's own actions. ebay can be a lot of fun, very rewarding socially, and financially positive despite all its admitted flaws (for one, its feedback system needs to be completely revised; for another, it is unresponsive to criticism).

With experience also comes wisdom and I've long since learned how to determine a seller is less than honest or ethical. By staying away from such sellers, I avoid the pitfalls many new eBayers fall into. On the selling side (I sell more than I buy), I have worked with some mighty difficult and unreasonable purchasers and still have managed to keep my head above water. Again, an open, honest, and communicative approach works best.

Well Said.

A great idea to express the positives to ebay aswell.

I personally like ebay, but also think there can be some changes made.

I have made over 300 positive purchases on ebay. I had a few coins I had to send back and only one truly bad experience.During a very long period of illness, I was still able to shop for coins. I also love the excitement of the true auctions. Mike

Working on ratio's.

I have had about 1470 good experiances and maybe 3 bad experiances. Very good odds.

Still doesn't mean there is no room for improvement...*grin*

I agree. We all tend to remember the bad experiences more than the good ones. If a buyer is careful, ebay is a great resource for coins (and other items as well).

I love selling coins via the internet. (I enjoyed my ebay selling experience more before they went crazy raising the final fees. ) I have also had some very positive buying experiences.

It's nice to see something positive about ebay for a change. Thanks CoinNut5!!

I don't know about Susan's machine, but my "E", "A", "T", and "N" have completely disappeared.

I have had no problems with dealers online as I think ebay is that everyone wants a good reputation so they can increase sales and have a good rep.
Out of all I have had minimun problems as I have to say close to 100% problem free from local and foreign dea;ers I have to compliment my past present and prospective future sellers that may deal with in time
