Hello! I live in South Florida and always wanted to get metal detector and get myself this great hobby. But here in Florida it's maybe not too many places to look for something really. I don't know may be I'm wrong and only this thing stopping me. I understand it's a lot of beaches here, so may be more chances to find some lost jewelry or pocket change, but may be it's most searched areas here.
If somebody can give me advice were to look and that to look for in this state...

Go to FMDAC.org and check for Florida, should be Southeast Chapter.

They can help you the best.

south florida is full of beaches and sand. buy a machine and go for it. just remember, some of the detectors aren't made for the water, even a bit of water in the case will kill em. be prepared for a learning experience. you could go to treasurenet.com and see if there's a florida section there.

I am in Florida panhandle and do ok here. The beaches in south Florida are much better, because the have more people going to them. The more people there are means more things lost. Coins are fun to find and once you know what your doing you can always find coins. But it takes a lot of coins to be worth what one good ring will find. And beaches are where you will find the most gold rings. There will be many people giving their opinion on what wold be the best machine to buy. If you really want to find a lot of jewelry then you should have a good quality one that works in the water. I find 10 rings in the water for one that I will find on the dry sand. There is no feeling like seeing a nice diamond ring or gold coin attached to a chain in the bottom of your scoop.
