Some crazy colors on his puppy, I failed to capture them all. Lucky to have a decent, well-protected reverse. It toned to a mello gold color.

What do you think?

MS-63RB. The obverse tone has very little eye appeal to me.

MS63 could work for me. Since we're not dealing with a $5000 piece here, I'd qive it a gentle soak in acetone just to see what happens.

Splotchy, not a fan, maybe MS-62. Personally, I'd spend it. Who on earth would pay a premium for this?

I guess I'm a weirdo, I've grown very bored with red memorial cents. I have multiples of the entire series in high grade red already. When coins that are strange and interesting cross my path, I absorb them into my collection. That's just how I roll my friend.

Interestingly, when I do show my memorial collection to non-collector family they are typically most interested in and fascinated by the highly toned coins. To them all the reds look the same, especially children. Toners are plain FUN to own!

i can see why if you collect quite a lot of these. I was bored with LMC's since they came out. don't collect them however I do have an original 60 small date roll I've been holding since the 60's

this one has been exposed to the elements for quite a while. the toning has moved through most of the hues and into the black category which isn't the most attractive for most collectors

i'd call it low-end MS63 high end MS62 maybe RB

The coin was rinsed with isopropanol and then acetone prior to the airtite. Soaking would be futile IMO.

If you look closely at this coin, it is pretty well struck and virtually free of any major hits. One tick on the column and just some minor ticks elsewhere. The reverse has cartwheel luster. I think it's 62-63.

Of course, the toning absolutely kills the eye appeal for the majority of collectors. It was interesting to read the comments - that's why I posted this coin. I don't mind anyone calling it as they see it, that's the purpose of the thread.

Same boat, rd cents may as well all be the same...started there, then got bored fast so moved to varieties, got bores just as fast.

Toners got the hook in good on me.

Red memorial cents are everywhere and easily obtainable. Toners are completely unique, no two are the same and they make collecting memorials fun again for me. I'm completely bored with full red memorials unless they are 67 up.

I'd call this a details coin with environmental damage and xf details.
