hello
is anyone familiar with this type of error?
the coin is circulated and shows wear and scuffing but the image of Maya angelou is flat with no details
is it possible this could happen during circulation or is this a result of minting error?
please advise and thanks!

To CCF! It's damage, PMD. Might have been sanded down.

extreme wear - possibly from mechanical rubbing or sanding. not an error, just damage at this point.

I think I see long lines in body area like it has been sanded, so I say it is damaged.

Dang, it could have been the doubled earring error. Someone or something has removed the high relief areas of MAYA.
