I found this coin in a collection I obtained and was hoping to get some help grading it and curious to what the value might possibly be.

Easiest way is go to ebay sold listings and see what they are selling for. On ebay Advanced search line type something like "1896 Britain one penny," check the sold items box. You can do this type of search for many coins or other items. Yours has a lot of circulation wear.

Lots of wear yes, Sheldon scale grade of VG-8 to me...
Value, averaging about 2 dollars, since it is also a more common date

A very common coin, particularly in low grades. This one would be UK grade VG. Value 50p-75p.
