I used a microscope for looking at VAMs for the first time tonight and it was amazing how much easier it was trying to use a dang loop. I do not care how much it cost (as long as it is under $500) but I am going to get a microscope that I can hopefully hook to the PC and take some screenshots. Does anybody have one or know of a good one or what to look for? Thanks for your time, Jordan ----------------- Edit After doing some checking, $500 might not get me anything How about somethnig like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/1-7-Zoom-Video-...mZ6036713220From what I can tell, it just outputs the image, but you can use the "Print Screen" to take a screenshot of the monitor and then copy it into your Photo editing program. http://cgi.ebay.com/1280x1024-PIXEL...mZ7602932803Is this item just a camera? Any ideas if universal? http://cgi.ebay.com/Student-Kids-St...mZ7603304488Here is another one... For the microscope without a camera, should you be able to get good results by tri-podding it to the eyepiece? Edited by jdheyne 03/29/2006 08:35 am

I have a Digital Blue QX5 which is a great to a point for sharing images. I have a old stereo zoom microscope I do most of my coin studying under. When I'm ready to get something new I think it will be along these lines. http://cgi.ebay.com/3-5X-90X-INSPEC...cmdZViewItem Having the zoom is nice because it lets what your imaging take up the full field.

It seems with that one you would need to buy everything additional. Camera and stand do not come with the scope. I would probly pick up a package including what was needed.

Microscope? Who needs a microscope? All you need is a good, approximately $50 linen tester. The linen tester below is a cheap $3 plastic lens 2X tester... I took this photo through that... Imagine what a good $40-$50 Bausch & Lomb glass 10X tester will do. Microscope? We don't need no stinkin' microscope.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Zoom-Inspection...mZ7604901799Do you think that would pair up alright with what else I have? Thanks for the help! Jordan Bobby, I just saw your reply once I was replying with this. How good does your work for just normal inspection? The main want for this is for very good inspection, and once I find something to be able to get good pics. ------------------------------------------ http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...m=7604387583 is the other item that I bought... I am hoping it will pair up with one of the scopes out there.

I love the camera too... I do some photography on the side and it has served me well for everything except coins. I cannot get it to take good coin pics, but I do not have a good macro lens. (probably a good reason why it isn't working well for coins)
