Was wondering if anyone can tell me if this is a mint error. I have never seen anything like it. It has an indention over Jefferson's eye. It is a 1970 S Jefferson nickel.

First of all.....

This isn't a mint error. Don't know exactly what caused it, but it looks like someone tried to drill a hole through the coin.

It looks to me like someone ruined a good wood drilling bit on that one.

This appears to be another fine example of a severe strike to the coin. The indentation on the obverse and resulting raised metal on the reverse indicates something was used to give this coin a deliberate hit.
