I spotted this one on the bay. Upon close inspection you can see that it is clearly not the type 2 variety. I notified the seller and haven't received a response so I reported it to ebay, stating that it is misrepresented and why. The response I received from ebay was that they looked into my report using artificial intelligence and could find nothing wrong with the listing. "Intelligence", I think not!

This is why I scoff when people fret about AI taking over the human world.

I suggest you tell ebay that they train their AI how to read a mint mark. There is no such thing as a 1972-D Type 2 $1. That variety was exclusively produced in Philadelphia with no mint mark. There is no Type 2 reverse from Denver.

You actually got a response from ebay? I've only gotten their automated "we're looking into it, here's a reference # to make you feel warm and fuzzy" but never any response after that.

I've been waiting over a year on multiple reports of sales tax repeatedly charged to a state which is exempt. And I have yet to get even that.

Ha, I did get a response this time, same as yours. "We looked into your report and didn't find the listing to be in violation of our policy. This determination was made using automation or artificial intelligence."
I reported it under Listing Practices / Other listing practices / Item location misrepresentation. There doesn't seem to be a category for erroneous or fraudulent description. I just tried it again for fun, under fraudulent listing. I told them it's 1972-D not 1972, there is no 1972-D Type 2, and it's not Type 2 anyway.

This listing is a perfect example of why I have a low opinion of ebay. 1D 1972-D Type 2 does NOT EXIST. Is ebay really that lazy that only rely on AI to respond to this? They should have some Category Manager that can take less than five minutes to look this up in the RedBook, Blackbook, or https://www.varietyvista.com. ebay = let the buyer beware.
