I need some expert eyes to help me grade this coin. It has never been touched. It came directly out of a mint set. Steps are visible. I'm thinking MS-65. Please let me know your opinion.

Pics are too dark/soft to see surface details clearly.

Is that squiggle in front of the nose on the coin?

The second pictures are different from what I originally posted. For some reason the first ones changed. Sounds weird but it's true.

Yes, that squiggle is on the coin unfortunately. It was there when I removed it from the packaging.

Too bad. I'll say MS-63, just a spender to me.

Do the steps being visible on the Monticello increase the value of it at all?

I'll say MS-63.
Errers and Varietys.

Quote: It came directly out of a mint set There were no official mint sets in 1965. What sort of package did this come from? Quote: Do the steps being visible on the Monticello increase the value of it at all? Not really IMO. Your photo is soft and fuzzy, but I can see that the steps are not continuous. I judge this to be a low MS not FS coin.

I'm seeing a lot of spots. I realize it's a '65, but I'm hesitant about MS. I would be comfortable assigning this coin a grade of AU-58.

1965-1967 the Mint issued Special Mint Sets (SMS). This particular coin is likely MS 65.

Here is a clearer pic of the steps. Here is a pic of the mint packaging I removed the coin from.
