Hi everyone,

I have a 1893 Indian Head cent with AU Details, but the color looks off. It looks almost flat or dull versus vibrant - it reflects light, but almost like a mirror versus showing the normal luster. It looks "wrong".

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how this coin has been modified.

I've attached pictures of it next to a 1907 Indian Head cent with a similar level of detail that shows more normal color and luster for comparison.

Obverse, 1893 Indian Head cent (left) versus 1907 Indian Head cent (right)

Reverse, 1893 Indian Head cent (left) versus 1907 Indian Head cent (right)

Thanks!

Sad and disappointed. Definitely not worth what I bought it for. It'll be a good lesson for me about what to look out for in the future though.

Thanks all!
