Die cracks are raised. Scratches are incuse.

Nice example!  The scratch is minor and does not take away from the coin.

SD and the scratch might have been on the planchet. I see a few of these out of unc rolls and bags. It's a scratch but being on the planchet and then struck won't have any metal buildup above the surface.

For me to quickly identify a small or large date ,I look inside the zero of the date and if it's shaped like an ellipse (oval) as opposed to circular then it's a small date.
