Are1973 P one cent rolls from US Treasury considered MS.
If so, what number. I worked near the treasury and got them from the cash window.
Here is a little true story. One day I was over there and a old man was "cashing in" a huge load of pennies. He started dumping them into the coin counter. As I watched I saw Indian Head pennies rolling by. I sort of yelled hold on I'll you a nickel a piece for those pennies. He quicky moved away from me and at me like I was crazy. The teller just looked at me and smiled.

If undisturbed they should be MS. Can't put a number on it without seeing in hand.

Interesting story about the IHCs!

They have set in a box for over 30 years. I have three rolls that say U.S. Treasury Washington DC. If they are MS65 they are worth $28 a coin. If MS67 $500.
Also in 1973 the Mary Brooks the mint director had issued small mint bag replicas with 15 uncirculated coins 5 each PDS. I got three bags in 1973 from the treasury in DC. I wonder if they might have a MS value. I never opened them and set them aside. I really not that great with grading high grade coins. I could open one of the gags with cotton gloves on and send a few pictures if someone would like to see them and may be help with the grading.
I hesitate opening a roll yet because it proof of direct from the treasury, if that really mater. I know the bottom line is someone has to see a coin to grade, in there lies the rub. Also can you post an image here?

Well I opened a bag and the coins are nothing special. AU50 with a few a little better. Most are starting to brown a little. The bags seem to be just cotton and the opening has a draw string that doesn't really do much except to stop the coins from falling out. But heck I got three bags of pennies from the treasury.

LibraryGuy44 Great additions to your collection, those Treasury bags in particular.

sounds like a pretty unique thing you have there. I lived in Lanham, MD in 1973, just a few miles from DC.
I could have purchased some of those, had I had known.

Hey LibraryGuy44, I'd like to see a picture of one of your Mint mini-bags, and maybe the coins too. (hint hint)

Sounds like fun! Just because the coins browned doesn't mean they don't have value....assuming they are mint state examples. Can you post some pictures?
