It's impossible for there to be a repunched date in 1909 as that was the first year they added the date to the hubs instead of punching them by hand. Report this Post to the Staff

I've seen what looked to me to be similar examples, both localized and more disseminated (attached). I have been wondering what causes them too. It can't be a simple die clash.
