Hi all, wanting some help valuing an item.

In amongst an otherwise unremarkable collection donated to the mission group I volunteer for, was this little gem - a 1982 20 cents in aUnc condition with a nice little bitten rim clipped planchet. No Blakesley Effect is apparent but the error seems legit (i.e. not a recent shed job). The cat's-claw bagmark on the queen's shoulder is distracting.

I'm planning to buy it for my own collection since I don't have any decimal clips, but have no idea what a fair market value for it would be. ebay prices are notoriously unreliable for errors, and the only example I can find from Australian online sellers is one from M.R. Roberts, very similar but 1974, that they're asking AU$150 for. Link.

Scans below. As is typical with scans, lustre doesn't show; the coin is nice and lustrous in-hand. PVC does show up in a scan; this poor thing had been sitting in a PVC album in hot humid Brisbane since 1982 and was smothered in PVC goo. It's had several soaks and I can see on the scan that there's still some residue remaining.

Any help or comments appreciated. Can probably take some camera-photos later if you think they'll help.

Can you show us a straight-on edge shot?

Can you get a picture of the clipped edge? I'm thinking that it's legitimate.

$150 seems a little rich to me!
I'd feel more comfortable around the $50 mark, which is close to what one sold for on ebay today.

Yes,i can't see much of a 'Blakesley' but that doesn't mean its not legit.

Like you said sap , the cats claw is a little distracting and if one was sold on ebay at a lower price.
I would say between $40-$60 would be a much better price!

Thanks all, AU$50 seems a fair price then, by consensus.
