need help with this one. I purchased this one at auction when I noticed the RPM, or what looks like an RPM. I thought there was a 50/50 chance at the fs-501, since there are only two known RPM's for this date. It looks like a tilted D/D to me.

Actually, looking further, there are 3 known on Wexlers. 1 more than VV and that one isn't it either.

Hmm, unfortunately the serifs are so flattened, that it isn't possible to see if they were split at one point. I see that area on the inside of the letter D and wonder if this wasn't just a small bit of damage to the punch.

I'm only seeing flattened serifs and maybe mint mark punch damage. They could of been split at one time, before the mint mark got damaged.

That last picture is really clear. Looks to me like a weak SW RPM that was probably made even harder to see because it got a little flattened by the second punch.

You can find similar weak well-separated flattened attributed RPMs on other dates in the same era to get some idea of what they can look like. Here's one on a 1941 D that is so flattened and weak VV posted an image with a hand-drawn overlay around it to better visualize where it is.
