Hello, I have recently found a Charles Darwin £2 coin in my change and from a very quick search I see these coins going for either £20 or £1000 so I really want to know how much this can go for and where's the best place to sell it.
Ill try to take better pictures but my phones camera isn't the best
Unfortunately, it's not worth much more than face value as it's not particularly rare or scarce.
If you're using ebay as a guide, look at the price of sold items as opposed to what people are listing them for, as that's a better indication. People list things on ebay with stupidly high prices which really have no bearing on its actual value.
Quote: I got told that the side with the queens head on it had a minting error on it, from a friend. was he lying or is there some truth to that?
I can't see an error on your coin. Some people think it's an error if the circle of dots around the Queen's head is partly lost in the groove where the outer and inner parts of the coin join. This isn't an error - it's just something common to most of the £2 coins in circulation.
