Unsure whether this would be VF or XF.

I'm thinking about VF 30.

Id say VF-30 as well. Weaker obverse, better reverse.

I'll say VF. Obverse has more wear than the reverse.

you have to be really into these bust halves and looked at literally thousands of slabbed ones to grade these. one of the most challenges series due to strike issues. even the TPGs get these wrong so its a crap shot to determine what is wear and what is strike related
I like looking at the lower devices on the coin rather than the higher ones which would exhibit more weakness. the date seems to be one area that can help. the lower curl also helps. the bust face and cap play the least role in grading these.
on the reverse the lettering and talons give me the best devices and you can fairly nice detail on both talons.
you can take XF off the table, its just not there so that leaves something in the F or VF range. I think its better than a F coin so limited the choices to the VF range. sometimes this is how you have narrow the grade down which these
i think you have a mid VF coin and i'll agree with VF30 grade. hope that helps

I'm not an expert at grading Bust halves but I was thinking VF25.

Not close to EF. Probably a nice 25.

I'm sorry to disagree with everyone else here, but this capped bust half is not in the VF range. At best it is F-15, and at worst it is F-12. Don't let the nicer looking reverse fool you into assigning a higher grade. The obverse, even taking into account typical 1829 strike weakness and the later die state seen here, is heavily worn and would forbid a VF designation.

As noted, the obverse does not match the reverse. I am at VF-20, maybe 25. The rev is closer to 35.
