I found a nickel during coin roll hunting that looks strange on obverse and reverse. It looks like some sort of strike thru and not after-mint damage. The weight is correct. Any idea what made it look this way?

If there is a little grease in the die, then letters can be a smidge wide as struck. On your coin though, it looks like you may have some circulation flattening.

Please be more specific about what you are seeing. Pics alone are often not helpful.

Severe Die Deterioration? I see die flow lines and Orange peel, on the reverse.

I don't know what I'm seeing except for fat letters and numbers and rough looking fields. I think all that can be seen in the photos.

I supposed Errers and Varietys got it right and it would be very late stage Die Deterioration.

I am thinking Struck Through Grease or oil. You also need to filter your light.Too much glare.
