Faustina II Sestertius - Big Gouge Or Possible Countermark?

I received this Faustina II IVNONI LVCINAE sestertius in a small group of worn larger Roman bronzes.

The coin's not in great shape, as you can see, and has a think black patina.

I am curious about the 4x12 mm. oval mark behind Faustina's bust. While I would guess that it's probably just a big gouge, the shape does make me wonder if it might possibly be the remains of a countermark of some sort. I can't make out anything inside the oval.

I just thought I'd post it to see what people's opinions are: gouge or countermark. Thanks.

Doesn't appear to be a C/M to me. Probably a gouge although I suppose it could also result from a minting error where a pebble or piece of metal somehow bounced onto the anvil/obverse die just prior to striking.
