Depends on the quality. A low-end BU (MS60-MS63) set can be purchased in the $20-$25 range. A high-end one? I don't know. BadThad will tell you how hard it is to assemble one of those.

A standard BU set goes for between $20 (if you're lucky) and $35. Now, those sets will be MS-60 to 63 coins at best, ignoring damage and spotting. If you're serious like me, the complete set is going to cost you a LOT more than just money....it going to cost TIME. I have more than 10x the time and energy on my Memorial set compared to my wheats....it's not even close. Many hours and dollars spent searching dealer inventories and BU rolls. I reject 99+% of the coins I look through for hits, spotting, staining, late die state and poor strike.

Oh...I should add the S mints were only made in business strikes to 1974. If you're talking S mints after that, it would include proofs....my price estimate did NOT include proofs. I'm not sure what a complete Memorial proof set would cost, I'd have to look at my spreadsheet at home.

Quote: let me have it... Nope. Assuming they're actually BU coins, it wasn't a bad deal. The shipping was even fairly reasonable, considering the weight.

NOoooOOOOoo....sorry, you shouldn't have bought that set! For a few more bucks you could have bought one that included ALL the 1982 varieties, some other goodies and perhaps the 1958 wheats...I've seen them on ebay before. Just be aware, this will be no gem quality set.

That's not a bad price to pay for the Lincoln's,I think you've got a good start to the collection but that's my opinion,Now what the ebay seller has said is "no variety's or proofs"so your S mint will stop at 74. Also you may be missing you the 1960 P and D large/small cent, the 1970 S large and small and the 79 S type 1 and 2 and maybe all your 82's,all the coins I've mentioned should be easy to find so good luck with your collection. Regards to all Harry

Quote: so I wont be receiving any S's later than 74? Correct. A set of proofs would set you back quite a bit more than $20.

I might be dumping my complete proof set and going another route, maybe we can swing a deal. These sets are all over ebay, you did ok...nothing to worry about. As mentioned, you didn't buy a complete gem set, just a standard set. Might get lucky and find a few nice ones.
