I checked Wex, VV and CC could not find an exact match. Spread on UNITED minor on STATES OF. I cannot find anything on the letters of AMERICA. Nice spread on ONE CENT. The left base is stronger than the right base. Initials show pretty well. Do you think this is a different DDR? Sorry for the different lighting. Edited by RobO411 02/02/2024 2:29 pm

Which DDR do you think it is: ref #? or just a total unknown DDR?

Ok cool, after some searching on Wexler, it does seem to have a mixture of details from a few known DDR's for 1964-P. I'm not sure what to think, but seems like an interesting coin without a doubt! I don't care how thirsty this popcorn makes me..

Rob, it's not unheard of to have notching with MD and think that is what you have here. I just looks to be eating into the original design and is on both sides of the letters. Just my take on it.

Quote: MD and think that is what you have here Absolutely not. Nice Class II DDR here. These are incredibly difficult to attribute for the 1964 cents because of how many there are. I think there are some strong E/W die scratches between the C and E in CENT, ideally those letters will be photo'd for the doubling in most references, so you may be able to get a match using that marker.

Tanner, I thought the O in ONE was a dead giveaway for MD, but you are the pro. Nice DDR, Rob!

There is a nice little marker at the west end of the base of the memorial too that will help.

I see split serifs on both sides of the devices - how can that happen?

Quote: I see split serifs on both sides of the devices - how can that happen? It's because the spread is towards the center and is not rotational, it's a Class II doubled die. Because dies and hubs had to be annealed when they were hubbed, they can become distorted due to the heating (they can expand or contract based on the heating and cooling from annealing). Most Class II doubled dies are like this, just scroll through the 1964 DDR listings and you'll see most appear like this.

Thanks everyone for your input Wow. I went through and checked Wexler , Coppercoins and VarietyVista's again. For me VV information/pictures to me isn't as good. But that's just me sorry. Markers. Obverse nothing even close. Here's the only reverse markers that somewhat sorta match to mine. I have a question about the scratches on WDDR-008. Which came first the ones running horizontal or vertical? Here's the picture from Coppercoins #1DR-010
